AdventHealth Community COVID-19 Briefing - April 10

At AdventHealth, our 150-year-old mission to Extend the Healing Ministry of Christ is always at the center of what we do.  As communities across the globe celebrate Passover, Easter and call on faith and hope to weather this storm, we want to continue being a place of healing - body, mind and spirit - to those in need. Below are insights on the latest COVID-19 information, and details on our preparedness and response efforts.

Keeping You Safe
To quickly identify and reduce the spread of COVID-19 in Florida, AdventHealth is offering drive-up tests at the Daytona International Speedway. The tests are available to anyone who meets the criteria<https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/testing.html> for testing, as set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Those who are symptomatic and wish to be tested should visit AdventHealthCoronaVirusTesting.com<file:///C:/Users/sol3a4/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/INetCache/Content.Outlook/ZHLOLXG1/AdventHealthCoronaVirusTesting.com> to schedule an appointment prior to arrival.  Click here<https://www.adventhealth.com/business/adventhealth-orlando-media-resources/news/adventhealth-offer-drive-covid-19-testing> to learn more about this announcement.  Additional locations will be announced in the coming week.

Keeping You Informed
This week, AdventHealth Central Florida President and CEO Daryl Tol met (virtually) with the Orlando Sentinel's editorial board. They discussed how COVID-19 is impacting AdventHealth and what we're doing to prepare for a surge. You can watch his candid interview here<https://www.orlandosentinel.com/coronavirus/os-op-coronavirus-daryl-tol-adventhealth-hospital-readiness-20200408-4vnjhphs3nab7dqtkoy4i5t4pe-story.html>.  Daryl also recently co-authored a piece<https://www.orlandosentinel.com/coronavirus/os-op-coronavirus-orlando-hospital-executives-prepare-20200403-bun5tvwgy5h6lkmxl7v4t743p4-story.html> for the Orlando Sentinel with Orlando Health CEO David Strong that we encourage you to read.  And David Ottati, who serves as president and CEO of AdventHealth hospitals in Volusia, Flagler and Lake counties, authored an article<https://www.news-journalonline.com/opinion/20200406/coronavirus-requires-us-to-work-together--david-ottati> in the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

Accelerating Innovation
Read more about the latest innovations that are changing the landscape of care of COVID-19 patients and ensuring the safety of our caregivers.  AdventHealth is one of the first hospitals in the country to use plasma from recovered coronavirus patients to cure ill patients. Also, the team at AdventHealth Nicholson Center is spearheading efforts to protect health care workers by creating 3-D-printed face shields. Companies large and small are taking part, including Universal Orlando Resort, Cimquest, Taz 3D and Out of This World Embroidery.  You can learn more about this effort here<https://www.adventhealth.com/business/adventhealth-orlando-media-resources/news/adventhealth-spearheads-effort-3-d-print-face>.

Important Resources
As the number of COVID-19 cases climb in Florida, we encourage you to use the following resources for your top questions and concerns:

  *   If you have questions about COVID-19 or wonder if you should be tested, call the free AdventHealth Coronavirus Information Line at 877-VIRUS-HQ (877-847-8747).  You can also find information at www.CoronaVirusSignsAndSymptoms.com<http://www.CoronaVirusSignsAndSymptoms.com>.
  *   Need to see a doctor? Schedule a free video visit from your home by downloading the AdventHealth app<https://www.adventhealth.com/coronavirus-resource-hub/coronavirus-resource-hub#1255381>. During the video visit, the provider will ask questions to determine if you need a physician's order for coronavirus testing and will help you with your medical need.
  *   Donation Hub:  For ways you can help, including sending notes of encouragement to our caregivers, as well as virtual volunteering opportunities,  please visit https://www.adventhealth.com/coronavirus-resource-hub/ways-give-back.
  *   AdventHealth has partnered with Polis Institute on their newly launched Central Florida United (#CFU) initiative.  #CFU has a primary goal of sharing accurate and motivating public health safety information while serving as a regional good works platform. Their website, centralfloridaunited.org<https://centralfloridaunited.org/countydata/>, highlights volunteer opportunities for those looking to help, as well as resources and information for those who might need assistance during this critical time.

As we head into the holiday weekend, we'd like to thank you for your continued support, trust and confidence.
