The City of Sanford has made the very difficult decision to cancel the Memorial Day festivities scheduled for Monday, May 25th. The annual events include the largest Memorial Day Parade in the southeast and a moving Remembrance Ceremony at Sanford’s Veterans Memorial Park overlooking Lake Monroe. We thank the Seminole County Area Veterans Advisory Council (SCAVAC) and Ed Burford, the Veterans Services Officer for Seminole County Government, for their year-round effort assisting the City with this event. We look forward to hosting this event in 2021 and anticipate an even larger outpouring of support for our fallen Heroes and their families.
All events, programs and facility rentals in Sanford, scheduled through May 31st, have also been cancelled. Information regarding events, parks and other city programs are regularly being updated on the City’s website at www.Sanfordfl.gov. As always, we are happy to provide any assistance if needed. Please don’t hesitate to call our office.
We look forward to emerging from the cloak of this pandemic together as a better neighbors, better customers, and an even friendlier Sanford! I hope to see you soon!
