Opera Orlando is all SOLD OUT for Bella Notte at Bella Collina

Friday, March 31, is a sold out affair for Opera Orlando’s On the Town production of Bella Notte at Bella Collina in Montverde, Florida. This one night only double bill of Rossini’s The Marriage Contract and Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi has been a hot ticket this season, and the audience is in for a real treat as they experience two classic operas against the stunning Tuscan-inspired backdrop of Bella Collina.

“Our site specific shows are always a hit, and this season we are pulling out all the stops as we take over the Club at Bella Collina,” shares Opera Orlando general director and Grammy Award-winning baritone Gabriel Preisser, who will also be headlining the cast as Gianni Schicchi himself. “We are moving the audience throughout the entire property with The Marriage Contract presented on the grand lawn, and then into the ballroom for Gianni Schicchi. There is really no other event like these site specific productions where you get to experience opera so up close and personal.”

Led by music director and pianist Kyle Naig, making his company debut, and Opera Orlando artistic director Grant Preisser, this silly double-feature about how contracts and wills can get in the way of love and marriage is sure to have the audience in stitches. “It has been a lot of fun putting these two pieces together,” says Grant Preisser. “We have reworked The Marriage Contract as a prequel to Gianni Schicchi so that the evening is all about the antics and dysfunction of the Donati family. We have also included a lot of references to Orlando and Bella Collina. Friday should be just a ridiculously fun night, where the audience is just as much a part of the show as the singers.”

In addition to Gabriel Preisser as Gianni Schicchi, the cast welcomes back mezzo-soprano Robyn Rocklein, last seen as the witch in the Company’s 2021 production of Hansel and Gretel, and tenor John Teixeira and baritone Stephen Mumbert who were both part of December’s All Is Calm: the Christmas Truce of 1914 cast. Both pieces also showcase Opera Orlando’s 2022-23 season Studio Artists: soprano Sara Lucille Law, mezzo-soprano Raphaella Medina, tenor Robert Hartfield, and baritone Geoffrey Peterson

This immersive evening at Bella Collina will be accompanied by a string quintet of musicians from Alterity Chamber Orchestra and sung in English, with appetizers, wine, and dessert served throughout the evening. Although Bella Notte at Bella Collina is SOLD OUT, tickets are currently available for Opera Orlando’s final MainStage production of the season, Donizetti’s The Daughter of the Regiment, on stage at Steinmetz Hall. Don’t miss this family-friendly and heartwarming production on April 21 and 23, 2023. Individual tickets are on sale and start at just $19 through the Dr. Phillips Center’s Bill & Mary Darden Box Office (445 S. Magnolia Avenue, Orlando), online at www.DrPhillipsCenter.org, or by calling (407) 839-0119, ext.0.
