Seminole County Continues to Offer Rental and Mortgage

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL (December 7, 2021) - Seminole County renters and homeowners who can demonstrate income loss throughout the pandemic may qualify for $7.3 million of remaining grant funds that are intended to assist low to moderate income households. The County was awarded these Emergency Mortgage and Rental Assistance Program and American Rescue Plan Act funds by the U.S. Department of Treasury to cover the financial obligation of mortgage, rent and utility payments for households experiencing job loss or reduction of hours worked.

Low to moderate income* applicants residing within Seminole County who have not previously received rental and/or utility assistance from Seminole County in 2021 may qualify for rent and utility financial assistance. Residents can receive grants for up to 12 months of unpaid past-due rent or mortgage payments, plus utilities. In some cases, applicants may also qualify for additional months of prospective payments.

*Moderate income households are considered to have 140% or less of the area median income. Low income households are considered to have 80% of less of the area median income. Moderate income residents in Unincorporated Seminole County may qualify, while low income applicants within Seminole County city limits may qualify. Residents are encouraged to apply at www.seminolecountyfl.gov, and application processors will assist with determining which funding source the applicant may qualify for. A portion of the funds must be expended before March 31, 2022, per Treasury guidelines. Presently, Seminole County ranks 6th in the State for monies expended back into the community.
