Seminole County FL - JUNE 1 COVID-19 UPDATE

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL (June 1, 2020)- Seminole County Office of Emergency Management has been under a Local State of Emergency (LSE) since March 2, 2020, and continues to monitor COVID-19. There are currently 493 confirmed cases in Seminole County, 485 of which are Seminole County residents and 440 confirmed cases have been completed; there have been 12 COVID-19 deaths in the County. Updates can be found at prepareseminole.org and on the County’s social media channels.

PRE-APPLICATIONS NOW ACCEPTED FOR SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS
The pre-application process for Seminole County Government’s Emergency Small Business Grant Program begins today. Small businesses adversely impacted by COVID-19 may apply for this one-time grant to help subsidize significant revenue loss. Full program details can be found at BusinessInSeminole.com.

GRANT OVERVIEW

  • A maximum of $5,000 may be granted to qualifying small businesses with a physical location in Unincorporated Seminole County or within the city limits of Altamonte Springs, Casselberry, Lake Mary, Longwood, Oviedo or Winter Springs. Businesses located in the City of Sanford should apply for Sanford’s small business grant;
  • Businesses with one to 25 low-to-moderate income employees as designated by the Federal Housing Administration FY2020 Income Limits are eligible. Primary business sectors include restaurants, bars, retail, personal services (salons, child/elderly care, laundry/cleaning services, pet care), repair and maintenance services, fitness centers, and event services. Home-based businesses are not eligible;
  • Grants may be used to offset commercial rent or mortgage payments, utilities, payroll, employee support or retention programs, or investment in PPE equipment;
  • Business owners should visit the Emergency Small Business Grant Program website, BusinessInSeminole.com, for further details related to criteria, required documentation, and the application process.

TIMELINE

  • Monday, June 1, 8:00 a.m.: Pre-application process begins;
  • Friday, June 5, 12:00 p.m.: Pre-application process is closed;
  • Pre-applications will be reviewed by staff as they are received. Eligible businesses will be notified via email with application next steps within two business days of receipt of the pre-application;
  • Friday, June 19, 12:00p.m.: Application deadline with all supporting documents;
  • Applicants will be notified of grant approval status via email by Monday, July 6;
  • Funds are estimated to be available by mid-July.

WEDNESDAY: POP UP COMMUNITY COVID-19 TEST SITE
True Health, Florida Department of Health-Seminole and Seminole County Office of Emergency Management are offering a Pop Up Community Test Sites at Seminole County Central Branch Library in Casselberry this Wednesday.

Pop Up Community Test Sites are intended to serve those without transportation or accessibility to other sites or clinics. Patients must bring identification, patients do not have to exhibit symptoms. Testing is free of charge regardless of insurance status; patients with insurance should bring insurance cards.

Appointments are not necessary.

ONEBLOOD TESTS FOR ANTIBODIES WITH BLOOD DONATION, SEMINOLE COUNTY LOCATIONS
Seminole County has partnered with OneBlood to offer temporary Big Red Bus blood donation sites throughout the County on June 9 and 10; all donors will receive free, FDA-approved antibody testing with a blood donation. Find the Big Red Bus at the following locations:

  • Tuesday, June 9, 10:00a.m.-3:00p.m.
    • Sanlando Park, 401 West Highland Street, Altamonte Springs
    • Boombah Soldiers Creek Park, 2400 FL-419, Longwood
    • Red Bug Lake Park, 3600 Red Bug Lake Rd, Casselberry

    • Seminole County Government – County Services Building, 1101 East 1st Street, Sanford
