Seminole County FL - MAY 12 COVID 19 UPDATE

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL (May 12, 2020)- Seminole County Office of Emergency Management has been under a Local State of Emergency (LSE) since March 2, 2020, and continues to monitor COVID-19. There are currently 418 confirmed cases in Seminole County, 410 of which are Seminole County residents; there have been 11 COVID-19 deaths in the County. The County’s confirmed cases range from age six months to 100 years. Updates can be found at prepareseminole.org and on the County’s social media channels.

LIBRARY CURBSIDE SERVICE AND BRANCH OPENINGS
The Seminole County East, West, North, and Northwest branches will be open with the modified hours:

  • Monday-Thursday, 10:00a.m. until 7:00p.m.
  • Friday-Saturday, 9:00a.m. until 5:00p.m.
  • Sunday, 1:00-5:00p.m.

Library branches will be managed with a maximum capacity of 25% inside the building, and entrances will be monitored by Library staff to ensure occupancy levels. Seminole County completed installation of Plexiglass shields at customer service areas, hand sanitizing stations, and floor markers to ensure the safety of patrons and employees.

All five branches, including the Jean Rhein Central Branch, will offer curbside service by appointment by calling the branch where you plan to pick up materials.

BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETING TODAY
Today’s 1:00p.m. Seminole County Board of County Commissioners previously scheduled to be held at the County Services Building will now only be held virtually, permissible pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Orders. This meeting may be viewed at SeminoleCountyFL.gov/SGTV, YouTube.com/SeminoleCountyBCC, or SGTV (Spectrum 498, UVerse 99, Prism 84). 

Interested parties may register in advance by visiting the Board of County Commissioner’s webpage, SeminoleCountyFL.gov/BCC and finding the “Webinar Registration” link. After registering, parties will receive a confirmation email containing information regarding how to join the webinar. If interested parties are unable to join via a computer/online, interested parties should call (407) 665-0808 for additional information on how to participate via a telephone. Speakers will be limited to three minutes. Please start by providing your name, address, and the number of the Commission agenda item(s) you wish to address. These hearings may be continued from time to time as found necessary.

COVID-19 TEST SITES THIS WEEK
Drive Thru COVID-19 testing, offered by Allied Health, continues thru Friday by appointment.
On Saturdays through the end of May, the American Muslim Community Clinic and Bueno Pharmacy will offer Pop Up Community Test sites with appointments preferred:

  • May 16, 2020, 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m.- Iglesia Presbiteriana El Redentor, 6971 Red Bug Lake Road, Oviedo
  • May 23, 2020, 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m.- St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 861 Maitland Avenue, Altamonte Springs
  • May 30 , 2020, 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m.- Iglesia Renacimiento Cristiano, 150 Dog Track Road, Longwood

PRESS CONFERENCE THURSDAY, 2:00PM
The Thursday, May 14, 2:00p.m. press conference will be held at the Public Safety Building and will focus on COVID-19 response, elections and schools. Speakers include:

  • Jay Zembower, Seminole County Board of County Commissioners Chairman
  • Chris Anderson, Seminole County Supervisor of Elections
  • Dr. Walt Griffin, Seminole County Public Schools Superintendent

Additional speakers may be announced prior to the press conference.
