August 6, 2020-Sanford, FL -Wharton-Smith Construction Group announced today the hire of Bert Fonseca as a Project Executive for their Central Florida Commercial Operation at their Corporate Headquarters in Sanford, FL.
Mr. Fonseca brings with him more than 28 years of construction experience and a strong reputation for successfully delivering multi-million-dollar higher education, K-12 education, commercial, airport, healthcare and entertainment projects.
Prior to joining Wharton-Smith, Fonseca worked as the Preconstruction Director for Comprehensive Energy Services in Longwood, Florida and served as a Project Executive at Skanska USA Building Inc. in Orlando for more than a decade. During his career, Bert has proudly produced projects for the University of Central Florida, Seminole State College, Valencia College, Orange County Library System, Orange County Public Schools, Osceola County Public Schools, and the Brevard County School District.
In Fonseca’s career he has focused on managing large and complex projects that have showcased his considerable skills in operations oversight, pre-construction, customer and community relations, and project quality control. Bert also worked as a Senior Project Manager for Balfour Beatty in Plantation, Florida.

Fonseca graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and went on to earn a Master of Science in Construction Management from Florida International University. Mr. Fonseca is a Florida Certified General Contractor, applying for his Mechanical and Contractors Licensures and a graduate of Leadership Orlando.
In his position at Wharton-Smith, Fonseca will be responsible for opening and developing new market segments as well as expanding opportunities in existing higher education and municipal markets.
