Seminole State College To Distribute Additional $16.2 Million In American Rescue Plan Act (Arp) Emergency Student Aid Funding

SANFORD, Fla. (Aug. 12, 2021) – Seminole State College of Florida recognizes that the challenges of COVID-19 still exist and will continue its efforts to offer financial support for students adversely affected by the pandemic. The College has already distributed $8 million in emergency student aid funding and will distribute an additional $16.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) emergency student aid funding to PELL- and non-PELL-eligible students enrolled in Fall Term 2021 and/or Spring Term 2022.
The emergency funding provides PELL- and non-PELL-eligible students taking six or more credit hours in Fall Term 2021 and/or Spring Term 2022 with a grant of $1,500 or $1,200. Students who are enrolled in both Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 terms are eligible for one grant each term. ARP grants can be used for education and expenses related to food, housing, health care (including mental health), childcare, transportation and technology. For more details about ARP grants, including eligibility requirements, please visit the College’s ARP website.
“Our intent is to distribute ARP funds as widely and equitably as possible, while prioritizing students with the greatest need. We recognize the financial challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic and trust the ARP grants will provide help to keep students moving forward personally and academically,” said F. Joseph Mazur, vice president of business operations and CFO at Seminole State College.
