Elizabeth Godwin is Economic Development Manager for Duke Energy Florida. Elizabeth is responsible for the attraction and location of new business, as well as retention and growth of existing companies in Duke Energy’s 35-county service area in Florida. With a focus on North Central Florida, her work includes site location services, demographic analysis, rate and cost comparisons and support for state, regional and local partners.

Amy Kirkland is the Director of the Center for Business Development at Seminole State College. Prior to her current position, she managed the Small Business Development Center at SSC, assisting clients in starting, and growing their small businesses. As the owner of two Seminole County businesses over the past 25 years, Broadway Dancewear, a retail dance boutique, and Wonderfaux Designs, a custom decorative painting company, Amy learned firsthand what it took to be successful. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tampa, double majoring in Business Administration and Psychology. She served as captain of the UT women’s swim team, and was named an NCAA two-time All American. She received her MBA from Western Governors University.

I spent most of my years in the N.E. Ohio region. Growing up in Youngstown, Ohio and after attending college, (Bucknell University), I returned to start a 25 year career in manufacturing management. As a plant manager and V.P of Manufacturing for several multi-national corporations I spent a significant amount of time in Europe and throughout the U.S. establishing new manufacturing sites and involved with the development of several visible projects in the aviation, steel, auto, entertainment and space industries. As a change of pace I started a business consultancy in 2002 focusing upon companies with 500 or less employees in the N.E. Ohio region. As a result of my work in the region, I was recruited by the City of Medina as their Economic Development Director. I have found that my experience on the "other side of the table" has provided both Medina and now Longwood an insight into the business owner or developer needs.
