AdventHealth Teams Mobilize Relief Efforts for Families in Venezuela After Devastating Earthquakes

AdventHealth is joining with community partners to respond to the urgent needs in Venezuela following recent devastating earthquakes.  
 
In times of crisis, supporting neighbors is one way AdventHealth lives out the mission of caring for the whole person, body, mind and spirit. 
 
Several AdventHealth hospitals in Central Florida will partner with No Child Hungry over the coming weeks to send more than 60,000 meals to families in Venezuela. The first meal pack event was held today at AdventHealth Kissimmee, and two additional events are scheduled at AdventHealth Celebration and AdventHealth East Orlando.  
For those who feel called to support relief efforts, a financial donation can also be made through the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA). Gifts help provide flexibility to meet the most urgent and evolving needs on the ground. 
 
Last month, Venezuela was devastated by back-to-back 7.2 and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes that struck less than a minute apart, causing catastrophic destruction. More than 4,000 people lost their lives, nearly 17,000 were injured and countless families were displaced as homes, buildings and other critical infrastructure collapsed or sustained severe damage. Search-and-rescue operations and coordinated humanitarian response efforts remain underway to locate those still missing, provide lifesaving assistance and support survivors facing urgent needs for shelter, medical care, clean water and essential supplies.
