The City of Sanford is moving to a new operational schedule designed to improve customer service as of August 1, 2026. City Hall will transition from the current Monday – Thursday 7:00 am - 5:30 pm and Fridays 8:00 am – 1:00 pm schedule to a Monday – Friday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm service schedule, making City Hall open 50 hours a week to serve our customers.
The change is intended to better serve residents, businesses, contractors, and visitors by expanding access to city services every weekday.
"Our goal is to make city services more accessible," said Norton Bonaparte, City Manager. This schedule allows us to improve customer service, increase operational efficiency, and better align with the schedules of our residents and business community."
Benefits of the proposed schedule include:
• Public access to city services Monday through Friday.
• Improved convenience for residents and businesses needing in-person assistance.
• Better coordination with contractors, developers, utility providers, regional agencies, and other organizations operating on a traditional five-day workweek.
Employees will continue working a full 40-hour workweek through staggered shifts, ensuring city services remain available throughout the week.
The city recognizes that customer expectations and service needs continue to evolve. Expanding weekday availability reflects Sanford's commitment to delivering responsive, accessible, and efficient municipal services.
