For many young hospital patients, trick-or-treating this Halloween isn’t an option. So, we joined Starlight Children’s Foundation to bring the festive fun to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital and Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in Tampa – surprising kids with costumes, books, toys and more.
At Johns Hopkins, a mobile movie theater unit was also delivered, which will bring new Disney releases and classics directly to patients year-round.
What else did the celebrations include?
This visit was so much more than a Halloween party. It was a chance for families to make happy memories together during stressful hospital stays. Our favorite duo, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, even joined in on the festivities.
“It’s surreal seeing him react to Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. I’m happy seeing him happy and getting to do things that normally he can’t do – especially since he’s been landlocked for about a year now,” said Josh, a father of one of the patients surprised during these special visits.
What is Starlight Foundation?
Starlight Children’s Foundation is a nonprofit Disney has worked with for more than 20 years to bring happiness and moments of joy to children’s hospitals.
These Halloween hospital visits brought 20,000 Disney Store costumes to 450 children’s hospitals and pediatric places of care nationwide. It also kicked off Disney’s Season of Giving, which will continue through the end of the year.
