New Year, Same Scams

While the calendar year may have changed, scammers are still targeting drivers with toll text scams. These messages pose as tolling agencies and claim your account is delinquent. They often threaten DMV or Department of Revenue action or a negative impact to your credit score if payment is not made right away. The texts include a fraudulent link and urge immediate action. These text messages are not sent by the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) or E-PASS.

Drivers should remember that toll agencies will not send text messages requesting payment or threatening enforcement action. Any unsolicited message claiming to be from a toll agency should be treated as suspicious.

If you receive one of these messages, do not click the link, and delete the message. Always verify your toll balance by logging in to your E-PASS account online or through the E-PASS app.

Scam tactics are not limited to text messages. Scammers are now creating fraudulent websites that impersonate tolling agencies. When accessing E-PASS, use only the official E-PASS website and phone numbers, and contact E-PASS directly with any questions. Always verify you are on an official site before entering any personal or payment information.
