In just about every metric available, Seminole County leads the state as one of the top places to work, live, learn and play.
One of the reasons for this is that 30 years ago, the community decided it was important to raise needed funds for critical infrastructure and educational improvements.
Over that time, the penny sales tax has brought in nearly $2 billion in revenue for the county, the school district and all seven cities.
Here are just a few projects that have recently been completed:
- Pine Crest School of Innovation
- EE Williamson Road Trail Connect
- Lake Brantley High‐ Building 5 Replacement
- W Airport Blvd. Sidewalks
- Midway Elementary ‐ ILC
- Sanford Riverwalk Phase 3
- Geneva Drive Roadway Extension
There are thousands of projects throughout Seminole County that could not have been done without the citizens of Seminole County approving this penny sales tax. You can find them here.
In November, the reauthorization of the penny sales tax will be on the ballot. This happens every 10 years as a requirement of a locally-approved tax.
The board of the Seminole County Chamber reviewed this issue and has unanimously approved supporting this initiative.
We encourage all residents of Seminole County to support this effort as it will be key to the future prosperity of our community and our members.
