Seminole County Fire Acquires Two High-Water/Flood & Multi-Use Rescue Vehicles

The Seminole County Fire Department (SCFD) has two older 6x6 high-water vehicles that were built in 1968. SCFD used them for water rescues during Hurricane Ian in flood-prone areas.

Due to the need for continued natural disaster preparedness and response in the County, in April 2023, the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners approved a little over a half million dollars ($502,000) to purchase two new 6x6 high-water vehicles (Acela Monterra GL Cassis Cabs)  with enhanced capabilities to replace the old ones.

The money to fund this purchase came from ARPA dollars – or American Rescue Plan Act funds – which are federal funds.
