Seminole County Fire Department To Host Free Grandparent Safety Class

 In honor of Grandparents Day in September, the Seminole County Fire Department (SCFD) encourages everyone to #DoSomethingGrand, and what better way to do that than helping grandparents feel prepared to keep their grandchildren safe?
 
SCFD will host a free Grandparent Safety Class on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Seminole County Public Safety Building, located at 150 Eslinger Way in Sanford.
Community Outreach personnel and Firefighter/Paramedics will provide grandparents with hands-on, practical skills to help keep their grandchildren safe, including:
 

• Child and infant CPR
• Choking emergencies
• Safe sleep practices
• Injury prevention
• Basic first aid

“At the Seminole County Fire Department, we are committed to helping our residents feel prepared when an emergency happens,” said Fire Chief Matt Kinley. “We offer hands-only CPR through Save a Life Seminole and Seminole Safe Sitter classes, and we have received numerous requests from grandparents for a class specific to their needs. We are proud to offer this class and give grandparents the skills and confidence to keep their grandchildren safe.”
