A four-week career exploration program by CareerSource Central Florida and Seminole County Government empowering high school students to explore careers in the public sector
ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 13, 2025) – CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF), the region’s leader in workforce solutions and innovations, in partnership with Seminole County government, celebrated the first cohort of the Public Sector Academy, a career exploration program for high school students in Seminole County.
Through the interactive four-week summer program, more than 20 students from across Seminole County High Schools were given a unique glimpse into the diverse career opportunities available within local government.
“We’re thrilled to offer the Public Sector Academy to Seminole County students and provide valuable learning experiences that bridge the gap between classroom education and real-world work environments, said Gui Cunha, director of Seminole County’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism. “The success of this inaugural class highlights the importance of early exposure to career opportunities and sets the foundation for continued collaboration to grow local talent and inspire the next generation of public sector leaders.”
Participants experienced behind-the-scenes tours of Orlando Sanford International Airport and various Seminole County departments, including Emergency Management, Animal Services, Seminole County Fire Rescue, the Sheriff’s Office, Economic Development, and more. At each location, they heard directly from professionals about what it takes to operate each department and the impact these roles have in the community.
