Chef Shanna’s Weekly Cooking Tip: Get Your Grill Season-Ready
- Before you light up the grill this season, give it a proper refresh.
- Deep clean the grates: Remove and soak them in warm soapy water. Scrub with a grill brush and rinse thoroughly.
- Burn off residue: Turn the grill on high heat for 15 minutes to incinerate leftover grease and food bits.
- Check your gas lines: If you’re using a gas grill, inspect connections and hoses for leaks.
- Oil your grates: Use a high smoke point oil (like avocado oil) to coat your clean, warm grates before cooking to prevent sticking and improve flavor.
- Keep it covered: After grilling, let everything cool and always cover your grill to protect it from the elements.
