Commissioner Zembower Elected to Chair Seminole County Commission

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL (NOVEMBER 15, 2023) – Seminole County Commissioner Jay Zembower was elected Tuesday by his fellow County Commissioners as Chairman of the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners.

Chairman Zembower was first elected as Seminole County Commissioner for District 2 in 2018. He served as Chairman in 2020, successfully leading the County during the pandemic.

“I am extremely optimistic about the County’s outlook,” said Chairman Zembower. “My goal is to help lead our County by continuing to protect and enhance the things that make Seminole County the most desirable place to live in the Sunshine State, like our safe, family-friendly communities, first-class infrastructure, and an economic environment that fosters job creation.”

The election of a new chair is an annual process for the Seminole Board of County Commissioners. The County’s Charter specifies the election of the new Commission Chair is to occur at the first meeting in November.

In addition to unanimously electing Chairman Zembower, the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners unanimously elected Commissioner Andria Herr as the Board’s Vice Chair. First elected as Seminole County Commissioner for District 5 in 2020, this is Commissioner Herr’s second consecutive year serving as the Board’s Vice Chair.
