LIFE Awaits You

For over 30 years the Learning Institute for Elders at the University of Central Florida (LIFE at UCF) has brought innovative and enlightening programs of education and lifelong learning experiences to seniors throughout Central Florida. In partnership with the university, LIFE hosts a series of talks by researchers, subject matter experts and community innovators for  800 members of the “over 50” community.
            Reaching out to university educators, LIFE invites a long list of thought-provoking and informative individuals to expand on subjects from space exploration, environmental issues, historical tales and economic insight, among many others. Experts from outside the university family also contribute to the lifelong learning experiences with talks on nature, industry and inventiveness.
            Throughout the spring and fall semesters, LIFE presents some 50 talks, delivered in person on the main campus of the university and simultaneously livestreams the presentations to members at home or office.
            In addition to its lecture series LIFE at UCF organizes experiential daytrips to regional destinations where members gain insight into the workings of organizations serving the community as well as recreational destinations that might include a river dinner cruise or a visit to landmarks, unique destinations or enterprises of interest.
            Along with enjoying lifelong learning educational experiences, LIFE at UCF members receive a university student ID which allows complimentary admission to many cultural and sporting events on campus, access to the university’s library system, and a host of other amenities.
            LIFE supports UCF through a series of grants and scholarships that promote the educational excellence of a premier metropolitan research university.
