New Chief Financial Officer Named for Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital

Orlando, FL (May 16, 2023) – Matthew Thomas has been named new chief financial officer for Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital and assistant vice president, Orlando Health. He joins Orlando Health with 17 years of finance and accounting experience, including 12 years in healthcare. In this role, he will provide financial expertise, monitor daily operating expenses, and develop key performance indicators.

Before joining Orlando Health, Thomas served as senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Appalachian Regional Healthcare System in Boone, North Carolina, where he was instrumental in construction planning and implementation of a 100,000-square-foot bed tower addition.

Previously, Thomas served in progressive financial healthcare leadership roles with hospitals in Murphy, North Carolina; Natchez, Mississippi; San Angelo, Texas and Franklin, Tennessee. Before moving into healthcare, he worked as a senior accountant for the largest public accounting firm in Tennessee. He earned a bachelor’s in business administration and a master’s in accountancy from the University of Tennessee. 

Thomas will be following in the footsteps of the previous chief financial officer at Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital, Holly Brown, who retired in April 2023.
