Over 40 Animals Surrendered in Animal Cruelty Case; Seminole County Animal Services Over Capacity

Seminole County, FL (September 21, 2023) - Last night, over 40 animals were surrendered to Seminole County Animal Services following an animal cruelty arrest in Altamonte Springs. Numerous dogs, cats and birds were all found inside of a home after reports of a pungent odor. All live animals were surrendered to the care of Seminole County Animal Services following the arrest and are now being evaluated by the Veterinary team.

This influx of animals has stressed an already full shelter with dozens of animals that are yet unavailable for adoption being moved offsite in an agreement with a local boarding facility. Staff is also getting creative in splitting kennel runs and pairing adoptable animals together to save space.

Seminole County Animal Services is asking for help from the public in adopting those pets that are already on-site, healthy and available for immediate adoption. By adopting out some of these dogs or cats, additional stress on the shelter will be alleviated.
