Rescue Outreach Mission Attends Statewide Homeless Conference

The issue of homelessness can look very different throughout Florida, even in counties adjacent to each other. The reality of the issue is that no two stories are the same and experiencing homelessness can look vastly different.

Rescue Outreach Mission is focused on Seminole County's residents experiencing homelessness as the only emergency shelter. While our community is different than what is experienced in Orange, Volusia and other counties, there are always new ideas and new thoughts that can be incorporated to help serve more people.

After all, the demand is greater than what one organization can provide. Being a part of a larger team is essential.

"Throughout the state, there are many communities who are addressing this issue with some level of success and it's important we utilize as many tools as we can to help restart the lives of so many people without stable housing," says Chris Ham, executive director, Rescue Outreach Mission. "As the cost of living skyrockets, the number of people experiencing homelessness is also increasing exponentially."

That's why last week, Ham and our Director of Programs Krystine Schafer joined over 400 individuals from Florida non-profits working together to collaborate and learn about ways we can “Focus on Ending Homelessness “  at the Florida Coalition to End Homelessness' Annual Conference.

This is
the only conference in the state of Florida focused exclusively on ending homelessness; bringing together experts, influencers, and innovators to share best practices, present new ideas, and collaborate on solutions to prevent and end homelessness.

This conference places an emphasis on networking and finding solutions; helping executives develop long-term relationships with their peers to support efforts to serve Florida’s most vulnerable residents.

About Rescue Outreach Mission:  In 1986, Mother Blanche Bell Weaver, Pastor of the Rescue Church of God, saw desperate people in her community living without basic essentials. With the support of her church and members, she was determined to help those in need. She founded the Rescue Outreach Mission to provide safety, support and a healing environment for her community.

Located across from the Rescue Church of God in Sanford, Rescue Outreach Mission remains true to her mission by serving disadvantaged people throughout Central Florida by providing resources that help prevent homelessness and assisting those who are homeless to become self-sufficient.
