Seminole County Commission Adopts 2023-24 Fiscal Year Budget

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL (SEPTEMBER 26, 2023) – The Seminole County Board of County Commissioners approved today a budget totaling $1.07 billion for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-2024.

The FY 2023-2024 Budget utilizes the County’s financial resources in the most responsive and efficient manner to meet the community’s needs. The budget preserves current service levels while maintaining without an increase in countywide ad valorem, fire, and road millage rates. The budget maintains the countywide ad valorem tax rate at 48.7 cents per $100 valuation.

The adopted budget includes market value adjustments for employee compensation to address critical vacancies and ensure compensation remains competitive within the Central Florida region. The Board adopted a 5% salary adjustment for all Seminole County Government employees.

“I can’t thank our employees enough,” said County Manager Darren Gray. “The work they do here every day makes a difference in the lives of Seminole County residents. As we reflect on this past fiscal year and the tough times, like Hurricane Ian recovery, Seminole County employees’ commitment to the community has been unwavering."

The adopted FY 2023-2024 budget also invests in several deferred maintenance projects including $4 million for roof replacements and $3.1 million toward HVAC upgrades. The budget includes $67 million for transportation-related infrastructure projects, including $10 million for Orange Boulevard (County Road 431) improvements, $9 million for Midway drainage improvements, $10 million for roadway resurfacing, $6 million for New Oxford Road widening, $5 million for stormwater and water quality improvements, $5 million for traffic control infrastructure, and $1 million for Crosds Seminole Trail extensions.

The budget was approved after two in-person public hearings on September 2 and 26, 2023. The new fiscal year begins October 1, 2023.
