Thank You, Wharton-Smith

Thank You Wharton-Smith

Sanford, Fla. (July 17, 2023) – One of the truly unique aspects of the emergency housing shelter run by Rescue Outreach Mission is our hydroponic garden. It’s a tremendous resource, allowing the organization to augment its meals with healthy fruits and vegetables.

This month, Wharton-Smith helped protect this resource by purchasing and installing fencing around the garden.

“There are so many needs we have at our shelter, but thanks to the support of community leaders like Wharton-Smith we keep knocking things off our to-do list,” says Chris Ham, executive director, Rescue Outreach Mission. “It is a blessing to have companies like Wharton-Smith in our community.”

The installation of the fencing is one of many great contributions made by Wharton-Smith. Recently, the company helped clear a field and created a larger parking lot space. This space has also been essential to provide shaded areas and water during the heat.

In addition, Wharton-Smith has agreed to be the title sponsor of the first-ever poker tournament to benefit Rescue Outreach Mission.

“Rescue Outreach Mission is providing a tremendous service to our community, helping our neighbors with a safe place to go when they may not have any other place,” says Darin Crafton, Chief Operating Officer-Commercial Division, Wharton-Smith. “Our company was founded with a mantra of giving back to our community and we are pleased to pitch in for these types of projects.”

As Seminole County’s only emergency housing shelter, Rescue Outreach Mission depends on the philanthropy of the local residents, churches and businesses. From volunteers to help with meals to funding to pay for utility bills, no gift is too small as the need is great.

About Rescue Outreach Mission:  In 1986, Mother Blanche Bell Weaver, Pastor of the Rescue Church of God, saw desperate people in her community living without basic essentials. With the support of her church and members, she was determined to help those in need. She founded the Rescue Outreach Mission to provide safety, support and a healing environment for her community.

Located across from the Rescue Church of God in Sanford, Rescue Outreach Mission remains true to her mission by serving disadvantaged people throughout Central Florida by providing resources that help prevent homelessness and assisting those who are homeless to become self-sufficient.
