Swedish immigrants began arriving in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with some settling in Seminole County. Their heritage is still seen today in both their descendants and in place names around Seminole County. The Annual St. Lucia Festival returns this year on Saturday, December 14.
The Museum hosts carols, a procession, traditional games, and our famous array of Swedish desserts! The St. Lucia Festival is a Swedish tradition celebrated on December 13, featuring a procession of young girls dressed as St. Lucia, wearing a crown of candles and singing traditional songs to herald the arrival of the Christmas season.
