Description
Instead of making the days after Thanksgiving all about shopping, make one day -- Dec. 3 -- your day of giving on #GivingTuesday. Held the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is a national campaign launched last year to capture the true meaning behind the giving season. The campaign, which involves numerous Central Florida charities including The Sharing Center and nearly 6,300 nationwide, is held just days after Black Friday and Cyber Monday – considered two of the top retail shopping days of the year. At The Sharing Center, we are asking existing and new supporters to help the working poor in Seminole County through their time, talents and financial commitments. ''The greatest gift our organization can receive is the support from those who commit to helping their neighbors in Seminole County,'' said Angie Romagosa, president and CEO of The Sharing Center. ''Without our agency, many of our clients would be homeless and hungry. In order to help them, we need both financial and volunteer support,'' she added. The Sharing Center recently kicked off its Christmas giving program and is also in the midst of its Bless Our Soles campaign, which seeks to put a gift card in the hands of needy Seminole County children to purchase a new pair of shoes. Donors can contribute directly to The Sharing Center through its website at www.thesharingcenter.org or click on the donate link on the organization's Facebook page. Businesses interested in hosting an angel tree in their operation for the Bless Our Soles shoe program can contact Jennifer Taylor, Director of Client Services, at Jennifer.Taylor@thesharingcenter.org or call (407) 691-3114. To volunteer at The Sharing Center, contact Patricia Shields, Volunteer Coordinator at The Sharing Center, at (407) 691-3138 or email Patricia.Shields@thesharingcenter.org.
