One of the key elements of a great community is public safety. People want to live, work and play in a community where they feel safe.

Public safety is more than just crime. It's how fast 911 responds. It's how a community reacts after a disaster. It's how we ensure dangerous people are not on our streets.

Seminole County has a reputation as being such a community, one where most people can live their lives without worrying about what will happen when they need law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, and much more. That's because of the leadership we have in all of those areas.

However, if Amendment 3 passes, it could mean a cut of more than 20 percent to public safety initiatives in Seminole County.

Our goal at the chamber is to inform our members of the impacts of Amendment 3, and public safety is one place where businesses and residents will see impacts.

That's why we're hearing from Sheriff Dennis Lemma on October 1 at Good Morning Seminole. He's coming to share an insight on what public safety looks like today in Seminole County - and what it will look like in the next few years if Amendment 3 passes.
