Description
Please join us for a special presentation entitled "Tennis from Baseballs: Sports in Sanford and Seminole County”, by Brigitte Stephenson of the Sanford Museum.
She will be speaking to the Seminole County Historical Society in a very unique presentation about how the city of Sanford has always had a fascination with sports, from the “Celery City Tennis Club” of the 1890s, to Tim “The Rock” Raines, a Sanfordite recently inducted into the baseball hall of fame. Come hear Stephenson tell about how sports not only changed the people of Sanford, but the landscape of Seminole County and beyond!
Brigitte Stephenson currently serves at the Museum Curator for the Sanford Museum in Sanford, Florida. She has been in that position since April 2020 when she was promoted from her former position as Museum Assistant. She previously worked at the museum for more than five years before attaining her current position. In her current role as curator, she oversees the museum staff, along with major projects, including the electronic accession of items and leading the efforts to extend the outreach of the museum. She has an extensive knowledge of Henry B. Sanford and is known for her great attention to detail in public presentations.
Light refreshments will be served. The talk is free, and open to the public! For more information, please call 407-665-2489 or visit http://www.seminolecountyhistoricalsociety.com/.
