55 Years of Memories at Walt Disney World

Today, Walt Disney World Resort celebrates 55 years of creating happiness and bringing people together through the power of storytelling, imagination and unforgettable experiences.

Since Walt and Roy Disney unveiled plans for the Florida Project in 1965, the vision has grown into a destination where generations of families have created lasting memories in Central Florida, and we are proud to be part of the community who made that vision possible. 

As we celebrate this milestone, we want to thank our Central Florida neighbors for being part of our story and recognize the people who bring the magic to life every day through their passion, creativity and dedication – our cast.

A lot has happened since Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration. Since 2021, the resort has added nearly a theme park’s worth of experiences with more than 70 experiences opened or refreshed. And we’re not done growing! Today, Walt Disney World continues to embody Walt’s belief in moving forward and opening new doors.
