Opera Orlando brings ALL IS CALM: the Christmas Truce of 1914 to the Pargh Event Center at Rosen JCC for one night only on Thursday, December 18 at 7:30 p.m. as part of their Arts at the J series. All is Calm beautifully retells the extraordinary true story of Christmas Eve 1914 along the western front, when a German soldier stepped into No Man’s Land to sing “Stille nacht (Silent Night),” leading to an extraordinary and unprecedented night of music, acceptance, and peace. Performed entirely a capella and in English, this powerful work is a moving tribute to hope, unity, and the enduring spirit of Christmas.
"Opera Orlando is thrilled to be partnering with the Rosen JCC once again as part of their new Arts at the J series,” says Opera Orlando general director Gabriel Preisser. “The Pargh Event Center is a wonderful venue serving many purposes and it is exciting to see it being utilized by so many local arts groups such as Orlando Ballet and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. A huge congratulations to the leadership at the Rosen JCC for having the vision and community investment to launch this series. The Christmas Truce story that All is Calm is based around illustrates the power of music and the arts to bring people together. It truly celebrates our shared humanity which is exactly what this new series Arts at the J aims to do."
Arts at the J celebrates the transformative power of the arts to build and strengthen community. Through unforgettable shared moments, they aim to bring people together to connect, learn, and be inspired by creativity in all its forms. Whether through theater, music, dance, storytelling, or cultural exploration, they embrace the endless possibilities of artistic expression – experiences that inspire, uplift, and unite us all.
