Monday, October 7 - Due to Hurricane Milton, the City of Altamonte Springs is preparing facilities, parks and neighborhoods for severe weather. All City offices, parks and facilities will close starting Tuesday, October 8 at 12 p.m. The City will provide additional updates about closures and cancellations once the storm has safely passed and parks and facilities have been inspected for safe use.
Trash Collection Update
- The City WILL run normal trash collection routes on Tuesday, October 8 to pick up household garbage from residences on the east side of I-4.
- Residents who do not place their trash curbside by 7 a.m. WILL NOT have their trash collected.
- We will pick up debris from Hurricane Helene on October 8 until 12 p.m. If our haulers cannot get to your debris by noon, please secure any remaining items in a place where they will not become projectiles.
- Large items such as furniture, mattresses or appliances left at the curb WILL NOT be collected. Please move items to a safe location to prevent them from becoming hazardous projectiles.
- Residents can take their debris to the Seminole County Landfill or Central Transfer Station until 5:30 p.m. on October 8.
- Seminole County is closing the landfill and transfer station tomorrow. Therefore, household garbage collection will not resume until Seminole County reopens their facilities.
Sand and Bag Self-Service
The City of Altamonte Springs is extending its self-service sandbag operations.

- Westmonte Recreation Center | 624 Bills Lane, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714 (off Spring Oaks Blvd.)
Residents must bring their own shovel as this is a self-service operation. Each household is limited to 15 bags. Park rangers are on site for those who require assistance while sandbag sites are open.
Flood Prone Areas
Residents living in special flood hazard areas should monitor the situation carefully.

City Parks, Program and Event Cancellations
City activities and events are canceled starting Tuesday, October 8 at 12 p.m. This includes: Aquatics, Seniors, Special Needs, Baseball, Softball, Flag Football, Cheerleading, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, Yoga and Library programs.
Westmonte, Cranes Roost, Eastmonte, Merrill and Lake Lotus Parks will close starting Tuesday, October 8 at 12 p.m. All park amenities are unavailable during this time including pavilions, civic centers, meeting rooms, playgrounds, common areas, exercise trails, baseball and softball fields, pitching lanes and batting tunnels, basketball, tennis, pickleball, racquetball, bocce and volleyball courts, as well as the outdoor and therapeutic pools. The Lake Orienta Boat Ramp remains closed.
