City of Orlando Proclaims Good is everywhere Day as VyStar, Second Harvest and Community Partners Un

VyStar Credit Union employees joined community partners and local leaders at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida on Tuesday for a Day of Purpose volunteer event focused on addressing food insecurity and supporting families across Central Florida. During the event, the City of Orlando presented an official proclamation recognizing Good is everywhere Day, honoring a shared commitment to volunteerism, collaboration and community impact.
The event was part of VyStar's fifth annual Good is everywhere celebration, which brings together employees, members and community partners in support of organizations making a difference throughout the communities VyStar serves. Volunteers worked alongside representatives from Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and other community partners to pack and sort food donations that will help support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
“At VyStar, we believe good starts with people coming together to serve their communities,” said VyStar SVP/Foundation President Patricia McElroy. “This event demonstrates the power of partnership and purpose. We are grateful to Second Harvest Food Bank, the City of Orlando, our community partners and our volunteers for helping make a meaningful difference for families across Central Florida.”
The volunteer activation also recognized the impact of VyStar's Good Starts Here Food Drive, which collected more than 1,450 pounds of food throughout August at participating branches across Central Florida. Donations from the food drive will help support local hunger-relief efforts through Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, which distributes food through a network of more than 800 nonprofit feeding partners across a seven-county service area.
According to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, nearly 650,000 people in Central Florida experience hunger, including more than 178,000 children. Through volunteer service, food donations and community partnerships, organizations throughout the region continue working together to address this critical need.
