City of Sanford Citizens Academy Class 25 Now Accepting Applications

The City of Sanford is now accepting applications for Citizens Academy Class 25, a free and interactive program that gives the public an inside look at the departments, divisions, services, and operations that serve the Sanford community.
The Citizens Academy is designed to educate and engage residents through presentations, facility tours, and hands-on experiences with city staff and leadership. Participants will gain a better understanding of how local government functions and the services provided by departments such as: Public Works, Utilities, Parks and Recreation, Planning and Development, Finance, Communications, Human Resources/Risk Management and Public Safety, just to name a few.
The program offers residents a unique opportunity to learn how decisions are made, how city services are delivered, and how they can become more involved in shaping the future of Sanford.

About the City of Sanford Citizens Academy
The City of Sanford Citizens Academy is an interactive civic engagement program designed to enhance residents' understanding of municipal government and strengthen connections between the community and the City of Sanford. Through hands-on learning and direct interaction with city leaders and staff, participants gain valuable insight into city operations, budgeting, public services, and community programs.
 
Graduates leave the academy with a deeper appreciation of how local government functions and the essential services that support and improve the quality of life in the Sanford community. Many participants go on to become informed advocates for their community and some choose to further their civic involvement by serving on city-appointed boards and committees.
