City of Sanford Joins Florida League of Cities Youth Council Legislative Action Days

The City of Sanford Mayor’s Youth Council are making their way to the Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee for the Florida League of Cities (FLC) Youth Council Legislative Action Days. The group, comprised of students from Seminole High School, Crooms Academy of Information Technology, as well as members of the Young Men of Excellence and Young Women of Excellence programs, will be participating in a unique opportunity to engage directly with state lawmakers, advocate for youth interests, and learn about the legislative process.
The event, taking place on March 25-26, 2025, is designed to give young people firsthand experience in civic engagement and state government. Throughout the event, students will interact with legislators and other youth councils from across the state, attend sessions on state policy and governance, and present their concerns on key issues affecting youth in Florida.
The Sanford delegation is proudly representing the city in the hope of amplifying the voices of local youth in state government. Through their participation in the Legislative Action Days, these students will gain valuable insights into the workings of government, deepen their understanding of public service, and enhance their leadership skills.
Mayor of Sanford, Art Woodruff, Commissioner Kerry S. Wiggins, Sr., Commissioner Claudia Thomas, as well as other city leadership, will accompany the group to Tallahassee, offering encouragement and support for these future leaders.
