Duke Energy Florida And Community Partners Help Families In Need In 2025

Through the Share the Light Fund®, Duke Energy Florida and the Duke Energy Foundation, employees and customers contributed nearly $650,000 to community partners in 2025 alone – helping keep the lights on for families in need when it mattered the most.

A significant portion of that support was from Duke Energy Foundation, including $1,000 for every Tampa Bay Rays regular season win – totaling $82,000 – as well as increased funding to help ensure customers stayed safe and comfortable during the extreme summer heat.

“We know that behind every request for assistance is a story – a family, a friend, a community member working to get through a tough time,” said Loree Elswick, president of Duke Energy Foundation. “Through Share the Light Fund and our local partners, we’re able to support our neighbors in their moment of need.”

One hundred percent of funds received by the Share the Light Fund® are distributed to social service agencies to help customers throughout Duke Energy Florida’s 35-county service territory pay their energy bills.

Recently, during an outreach event in Clearwater, Duke Energy Florida and the United Way Suncoast, a longtime Share the Light Fund® partner, met one-on-one with more than 200 customers and collected contact information to allow for follow up with 800 more.

“The United Way Suncoast is grateful for the important work we’ve been able to do with Duke Energy Florida to support families across the Tampa Bay area,” said Jessica Muroff, CEO of United Way Suncoast. “ We look forward to building on this impactful partnership in 2026 and beyond.”
