Duke Energy Florida Offers Immediate Savings For Income-Qualified Customers

Duke Energy Florida is offering immediate savings for income-qualified customers through its Clean Energy Connection program. Those who currently participate in Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-EBT), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) or Duke Energy Neighborhood Energy Saver may qualify for a monthly program subscription, allowing them to earn credits that help lower their energy bills.

How it works:

• Duke Energy Florida currently owns and operates 10 Clean Energy Connection solar sites across the state. They generate a combined 749 megawatts of carbon-free electricity at peak output, powering the equivalent of roughly 230,000 homes.  
• Through the Clean Energy Connection program, customers pay a monthly subscription fee to help maintain these sites, and in exchange, they earn credits toward their energy bill. For income-qualified customers, the fee – $8.35 per kilowatt-hour per month – and the credit – $9.03 per kilowatt-hour per month – are both fixed.
• Income-qualified subscribers save on their bills from the first month of enrollment, as the credit is greater than the fee, and those savings continue as long as they remain subscribed.

• Customers can remain subscribed if they move (as long as they still live in an area serviced by Duke Energy Florida).
• Customers can join a community of solar energy supporters in Florida.
