Emergency Preparedness Checklist for Caregivers

Preparing for emergencies in advance is crucial for caregivers to ensure the safety and well-being of their loved ones. Communication and Power Supplies:
  • Battery-powered radio
  • Flashlight
  • Extra batteries

Medical Essentials:
  • First-aid kit
  • Prescription medications
  • Extra pair of glasses
Food and Water:
  • Water supply (one gallon per person per day), stored in sealed, unbreakable containers and replaced every six months
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Non-electric can opener
  • Special dietary foods if required
Hygiene Products:
  • Adult diapers
  • Wipes
  • Lotion
  • Other hygiene items that do not require water
Mobility and Medical Equipment:
  • Extra wheelchair batteries (charged and ready)
  • Full oxygen tanks
  • Additional medications
  • Catheters
  • Food for guide or service dogs
  • Any other special equipment needed
Clothing and Bedding:
  • Change of clothing for your loved one
