This past week, the GFWC Lake Mary Woman’s Club members were beaming with heart-filled pride to have member Karyn Rinald, a 20-year Navy veteran, among the 100-plus women veterans
from across our state who embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime journey to Washington, D.C., as part of the inaugural all-female Flight of Honor. Karyn was among the remarkable women, representing generations of service from the Korean War to the present day, who carried with them a combined legacy of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our country.
We watched as they gathered together not as strangers, but as sisters in service taking flight—bound not just for our nation’s capital, but days of reflection, recognition, and remembrance at memorials that honor lives given, sacrifices made, and freedoms secured.
Our community, please extend your support to Karyn, thanking her for her service and continued service, “Living the Volunteer Spirit” as a member of the GFWC Lake Mary Woman’s Club.
Ladies are welcome to join us at our monthly meetings on the 3rd Wednesday from September through May each year at the Grand Living Park at Lake Mary, Lake Mary, FL.
The Lake Mary Woman’s Club members collaborated with GFWC Florida clubs throughout the state to raise over $200,000.00, making it possible to recognize and honor over 170 women veterans. The flight is the GFWC Florida President, Sara Dessureau, president's project. All expenses are paid for the veterans.
