Hurricane Milton Afternoon Updates: Tuesday, October 8

SHELTERS: Eight shelters are opening at 8 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, October 9 – this includes special needs, pet friendly, and general population shelters. Find a list at PrepareSeminole.org. County shelters are last resort options – individuals are encouraged to shelter with friends and family as first option.

 

SOLID WASTE: There is no curbside collection on Wednesday or Thursday. Please secure any garbage, recycling, or yard waste that was not collected or bring it to the Landfill or Central Transfer Station by 5:30 p.m. today. The Landfill and Central Transfer Station are closed Wednesday and Thursday. Collection on Friday will be decided later this week. 

 

SANDBAGS: Over 200,000 sandbags have been distributed to County residents. Seminole County’s Boombah Sports Complex sandbag location closes today at 6 p.m. Check PrepareSeminole.org for City locations.

 

CLOSURES: Seminole County Public Schools are closed through Friday and have a scheduled holiday Monday. Seminole County Government offices and facilities are closed through Friday, with the exception of the Landfill and Central Transfer Station that will potentially re-open on Friday. The Central Transfer Station and Landfill remain open today until 5:30p.m.
