As our region prepares for another tropical impact, the Seminole County Chamber can be a resource for your business before and after the storm.
If you're like me, you're watching every Milton forecast, trying to make the difficult decisions on a wide range of things, understanding forecasts and outlook change.
You feel the pressure to not be wrong, to ensure your employees and customers are safe, and to continue operating as long as possible.
Right now, the Chamber will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday as this severe threat moves across Florida.
That means Chamber U, Business After Hours and all committee meetings during that time are canceled. We're also canceling any meetings for Friday and will be open as soon as we can return to the office safely
There is a lot of information about Milton being shared on social media and other places, but the reality is most people want to know how it will affect their business and home.
Here are a few local resources to check, in addition to our media members the Orlando Sentinel, News 6 and Orlando Business Journal.
Our local governments are very good at ensuring our community knows what to expect and our partner, Seminole County Government, has always been a statewide leader.
Make sure you check out Prepare Seminole often. Understanding many of our members don't live and work in Seminole, here are links to the emergency management offices for Orange and Volusia counties as well.
If you are looking for more specific weather forecasts for our region, make sure you bookmark the National Weather Service's Melbourne office. There, you can find highly targeted weather information for the east Central Florida area.
On a larger scale, our friends at the Florida Chamber of Commerce have a great resource page where you can find a tremendous amount of information about what to do to prepare for a hurricane for home and business.
One thing to highlight is this flyer about business continuity plans. Most likely, many of these questions have been answered already, but if not, spend some time today answering them as they will be essential if we have significant disruptions after Mitlon passes.
