ICHRA popularity is growing. Once viewed primarily as a health benefits option for small businesses, Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements are increasingly being adopted by employers of all sizes. New data from the HRA Council’s 2026 Growth Trends for ICHRA & QSEHRA report shows particularly strong growth among large employers, with adoption among companies with 1,000 or more employees jumping 178%.
Employees are also taking advantage of the flexibility ICHRA offers. Rather than simply choosing the lowest-cost coverage, many are selecting plans based on what best fits their needs—even contributing more of their own money for the coverage they want.
