Thanks to a two-year grant from the S'firot Foundation, Jewish Pavilion Senior Services (JPSS) will dramatically expand its delivery of joy and Jewish culture to more than 400 residents of 40 senior-living communities across Central Florida. The expanded program, A World of Jewish Joy will create a consistent, monthly rhythm of stimulating, culturally grounded experiences that meet the holistic needs of older adults.
"The S'firot Foundation's goals perfectly align with our mission to improve the lives of Jewish seniors in our community, and we're honored to be included in the Foundation's very first round of funding," says JPSS CEO Nancy Ludin, who leads the organization alongside Vanessa Stein, Assistant Director. "We've been providing these services for more than a decade, but it's been impossible to keep up with the exponentially growing needs of our seniors. This funding will help fill that gap and fight the epidemic of loneliness that is devastating seniors here in Central Florida and around the country."
The S’firot Foundation grant will also fund a comprehensive, independent evaluation of JPSS's impact throughout the community. JPSS can then use that evaluation to explore future growth as well as continued programming to older Jewish adults.
Thanks to the S'firot Foundation's support, A World of Jewish Joy will include fun and engaging pillars of coordinated programming:
- Nosh & Nostalgia: Residents will explore Jewish culinary traditions through food demonstrations, tastings, and sharing memories associated with family recipes
- Passport to Jewish Life: Armchair travel programs will introduce residents to Jewish communities around the world using photos, storytelling, and discussion of cultural practices
- Tidbits of Torah: Short, accessible lessons in Jewish values and wisdom, followed by discussion and reflection
- Creative Connections: Hands-on arts and crafts activities such as mezuzah making, painting, and holiday-themed projects that will encourage self-expression and social interaction
- Jewpardy: Interactive trivia will test knowledge of Jewish life, history, and traditions while promoting fun and group participation
- Oy to Joy: Humor sessions will include Jewish jokes, storytelling, and comedy to foster laughter, social bonding, and emotional well-being
- Sing (or Dance) & Schmooze: Music programs will include live performances, sing-alongs, and opportunities for residents to have joyful group experiences
"Not only will these programs enhance the quality of life for Jewish seniors, they will also benefit hundreds of non-Jewish peers who participate alongside Jewish residents, promoting inclusion and strengthening community bonds," says Nancy. "This grant is a critical investment in our local seniors, and we're proud to be stewards of this wonderful philanthropy."

About the S'firot Foundation
The S’firot Foundation is a philanthropic organization established in 2024 following the sale of the two Kinneret buildings in downtown Orlando. Proceeds from this sale were used to create a permanent fund through which the Foundation will operate and provide grants to benefit the community. With a focus on Jewish older adults living in Central Florida, the S’firot Foundation is dedicated to advancing programs and initiatives that enhance the well-being and quality of life of older adults in the region.
