Karen Kurta Installed as President of NAWBO Orlando at National Women’s Business Conference

Karen Kurta, award-winning commercial photographer and founder of Karen K Photo, has been officially installed as the President of the Orlando chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). The ceremony took place during the NAWBO Women’s Business Conference & Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., marking the organization’s 50th anniversary year.

NAWBO is the unified voice of over 12 million women-owned businesses in the U.S., dedicated to propelling women entrepreneurs into economic, social, and political spheres of power worldwide. The organization advocates for public policy that supports business growth, strengthens the wealth-creating capacity of members, and builds strategic alliances across sectors and communities.

As the new chapter president, Kurta will lead NAWBO Orlando’s efforts to support and elevate women business owners across Central Florida. With a strong focus on connection, advocacy, and leadership development, she will help guide the chapter through its next phase of growth.

“It’s an incredible honor to serve as President of NAWBO Orlando,” said Kurta. “This organization has made an impact on my professional journey, and I’m excited to give back by creating even more opportunities for women entrepreneurs in our region. Together, we’ll continue to foster a dynamic, inclusive community that champions women in business.”

Kurta is no stranger to leadership or entrepreneurship. As the founder of Karen K Photo, a Greater Orlando-based photography studio, she specializes in headshots, branding, event, and architectural photography for commercial firms and small businesses. Her ability to combine strategic marketing insight with creative vision has helped hundreds of businesses enhance their professional image and tell their unique brand stories. A long-time member of NAWBO, she was named NAWBO Orlando’s Emerging Business of the Year in 2021.

NAWBO Orlando offers a vibrant platform for women entrepreneurs to connect, grow, and lead. Through dynamic networking, valuable mentorship, and educational events tailored to women business owners, the chapter fosters a supportive ecosystem that encourages professional and personal development. Its signature event, Wine, Women & Chocolate, exemplifies this spirit—bringing members together with women from across the region to showcase their businesses, celebrate empowerment, build relationships, and share ideas in a fun and inspiring environment. Under Kurta’s leadership, the chapter aims to expand its impact while continuing to evolve and meet the needs of its diverse and growing membership.
