Welcome back to our Leadership & Executive Coaching Series! Last week, we talked about why attitude matters more than skills or knowledge. This week, we're going a layer deeper, into self-awareness.
Many leaders believe they have a good handle on their own strengths and weaknesses. But here's the real question: when was the last time you actually asked someone else for honest feedback about your performance?
Self-awareness isn't just about how YOU see yourself; it's about how accurately that matches how others experience you.
So, how do YOU rate yourself? Give yourself an honest grade of 1 to 10 on each of the following:
• I utilize people and resources to gather input about my performance
• I recognize my personal strengths, limitations, and opportunities
• I have taken steps to fill any voids in my skill or knowledge sets
How did you score?
8–10: You have strong self-awareness and likely use feedback to keep growing
4–7: There's room to seek more input and reflect on blind spots
Below 4: Let's talk; self-awareness is the foundation everything else builds on
Here's the truth: the most successful leaders aren't the ones who think they have it all figured out. They're the ones who actively seek feedback, recognize their gaps, and take action to close them.
This is Part 2 of our 10-part Leadership & Executive Coaching Series. Next week, we'll dive into Organizational Skills, and why even the most talented leaders can fall short without the right systems in place.
If you'd like to assess where you stand today, I'd love to connect.
