Opera Orlando announces the full cast of A Decade of Divas, a one-night-only concert celebrating the end of the 10th Anniversary season featuring stars from the Opera’s past nine seasons. A Decade of Divas will be an evening full of opera and Broadway favorites, featuring the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Stephanie Rhodes Russell, the Opera Orlando Chorus and Opera Orlando Youth Company, and singing host Opera Orlando general director and Grammy Award-winning baritone Gabriel Preisser.
Opera meets Broadway in an evening featuring selections from Turandot, Candide, La traviata, Carousel, Les Misérables, and more! Featured artists include soprano Cecilia Violetta López, soprano Marnie Breckenridge, soprano Jamie Chamberlin, soprano Bridgette Gan, mezzo-soprano Amanda Crider, tenor Nathan Granner, and tenor Brian Cheney.
Soprano Cecilia Violetta López has graced the Opera Orlando stage three times across its ten seasons. Quickly becoming an audience favorite, her first appearance was as Mimì in La Bohème in 2017 and later appeared as Violetta in La traviata, and most recently as the title role in Frida in 2024. Ms. López has been named one of “Idaho’s Top 10 Most Influential Women of the Century” by USA Today and one of opera’s “25 Rising Stars” by Opera News. She is currently the general director and CEO of Opera Las Vegas.
“I’m so thrilled to be returning to Orlando, where I have been welcomed with open arms each and every time I’ve appeared on stage,” says Ms. López. “Opera Orlando has created such a beautiful environment for singers and audience members to celebrate this art form, and I’m honored to be joining them in closing out their 10th Anniversary season!"
Opera Orlando fans will recognize soprano Marnie Breckenridge from her 2023 Summer Concert Series concert, and as Lucia from Lucia di Lammermoor in the 2023-24 season. Soprano Bridgette Gan sang with the Company in its very first MainStage production in 2016, a double bill of The Impresario and La Mamelles de Tirésias. She has since been seen as Musetta in La Bohème (2017) and Norina in Don Pasquale (2016), as well as joining the Company for multiple galas. Mezzo-soprano Amanda Crider sang the roles of Cinderella in La Cenerentola (2018) and Second Lady in The Magic Flute (2022).
Soprano Jamie Chamberlin sang in a virtual concert in the 2020 Summer Concert Series alongside her husband, tenor Nathan Granner, who sang Cavaradossi in Tosca (2023). Rounding out the cast is tenor Brian Cheney, who appeared as Canio in Pagliacci (2019) and Belmonte in The Abduction from the Seraglio (2018).
