The Road I Traveled
My story isn't one of privilege. Growing up in Medford, Long Island, I learned the value of hard work and integrity from my parents. My father was a New York City Police officer, and my mother was a dedicated homemaker. Those early lessons shaped my entire career.
My professional journey began in the corporate world, working in sales, sales management, and marketing for major companies and the federal government. While building my career and raising my family, I knew I had a deeper calling. I wanted to become an attorney. It seemed like an impossible dream. No one in my family, nor any friends of my family, were attorneys. I had no idea where to start.
I started by earning my bachelor's degree at Nova Southeastern University, attending night school part-time while working full-time during the day and raising a family. I excelled in my corporate roles, even having the incredible opportunity to present at the White House. But the desire to practice law never faded.
Grueling Journey
To achieve my dream, I embarked on a grueling journey. I worked full-time during the day and attended law school at night, commuting 180 miles a day, four nights a week, and dedicating all of my weekends to studying. I completed the four-year program at Barry University School of Law and Florida Coastal School of Law in three and a half years and passed the Florida bar the first time.
 
Building My Firm, My Way
With my legal training and years of business experience, I opened The Law Firm of Charles Vega P.A. Today, I lead a team of five dedicated attorneys, providing comprehensive legal services to our clients. I'm also a trained Arbitrator and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Civil/Circuit and Appellate Mediator.
My Advice to Aspiring Entrepreneurs
If you're thinking of starting your own business, let me share a lesson I learned: be patient. Building a successful business takes time – more time than you think. And don't underestimate the value of mentorship. I found that other attorneys were incredibly supportive, and their guidance was invaluable.
