J. Douglas Williams YMCA Hosts Inaugural Golf Classic, Raising Nearly $40,000 for Community Programs

The J. Douglas Williams YMCA proudly hosted its Inaugural Golf Classic on March 17th at the beautiful Heathrow Country Club, bringing together 104 players for a day of fun, fellowship, and philanthropy. Thanks to the generous support of our participants, sponsors, and volunteers, we are thrilled to announce that the event raised just shy of $40,000!
Proceeds from the Golf Classic will directly benefit a variety of life-changing programs and services that the YMCA provides to the community, including:
  • Teen Afterschool Program – A safe and engaging environment for teens to study, exercise, and build positive peer relationships.
  • Silver Sneakers – Wellness and fitness classes that promote healthy aging for seniors.
  • Youth Sports Scholarships – Helping ensure every child has a chance to play, regardless of financial circumstances.
  • Safe Start – Lifesaving swim instruction for babies and toddlers to help prevent drowning.
  • Swim Lessons – Building confidence and safety skills in the water for youth and adults.
  • Live STRONG at the YMCA – Supporting cancer survivors as they reclaim their health in spirit, mind, and body.
  • Camps & Family Membership Assistance – Making YMCA experiences accessible for families during school breaks and all year long.
The funds raised during this incredible day will help sustain these vital programs throughout 2025, ensuring continued impact across our community.
The tournament was not only a successful fundraiser but also a celebration of community spirit, featuring friendly competition, great camaraderie, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
