Orlando Health today announced plans for a new state-of the-art hospital and medical office building to be built on a planned 40-acre health and wellness campus in Viera. The project, Orlando Health Viera Hospital, will be located in Borrows West between Lake Andrew Drive and I-95, just south of Viera Boulevard in Brevard County.
“This is an exciting day for this region and for Orlando Health as we move forward with plans for this state-of-the-art facility,” said Ohme Entin, president of Orlando Health East Region and SVP Orlando Health. “With the addition of this new facility, we will continue to build on the level of healthcare services that the community deserves and has come to expect from Orlando Health.”
Working closely with The Viera Company, Orlando Health expects to break ground on the project in June 2026.
“The announcement of Orlando Health’s health and wellness campus coming to the mixed-use commercial hub of Borrows West in Viera is a powerful affirmation of the vision laid out by our community’s founders more than 35 years ago,” said Todd J. Pokrywa, president of The Viera Company. “This milestone reflects the thoughtful planning that has always placed essential medical services and new major employment centers at the heart of Viera’s master plan. We are honored that Orlando Health has chosen Viera as the home for this transformative investment, which will not only meet vital healthcare needs but also provide new jobs in the community that serve as a catalyst for continued growth across residential, hospitality, office, retail, and dining sectors in Borrows West, Viera, and the broader Central Space Coast region.”
The project will include a new seven-story, regional hospital and a three-story, 60,000 square-foot medical office building. The hospital will be built in phases, with the emergency department opening in the fall of 2027 and a total of 240 hospital beds at ultimate build.
The hospital will include emergency services, imaging, laboratory services, pharmacy, surgical suites, catheterization labs, and all necessary support areas for comprehensive acute care services. The medical office building will house specialty practices focusing on cardiovascular health and neurosciences, among others.
Currently, Orlando Health employs more than 2,100 team members and physicians throughout Brevard and Indian River Counties at Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital, Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital and at several dozen physician practices. Orlando Health Viera Hospital is expected to bring more than 1,000 additional jobs to the region.
