The Orlando Magic have signed free agents Reece Beekman, Colin Castleton, Justin Minaya and Lester Quiñones, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deals are not disclosed.
Beekman (6’1”, 190, 10/8/01) played in a combined 36 games (four starts) last season with both Golden State and Brooklyn, averaging 2.6 ppg., 1.8 apg. and 1.1 rpg. in 13.0 minpg. He also played in five regular season NBA G League outings (one start) with Long Island, averaging 15.0 ppg., 6.2 apg., 4.2 rpg. and 2.00 stlpg. in 28.4 minpg.
Undrafted by an NBA franchise, Beekman played in 126 career games (121 starts) during four seasons (2020-24) at the University of Virginia, averaging 9.5 ppg., 5.0 apg., 3.4 rpg. and 1.81 stlpg. in 32.7 minpg. He led the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in assists as a sophomore (2021-22) and as a senior (2023-24). Beekman was named to the 2023-24 All-ACC Second Team, the 2022-23 All-ACC Third Team, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year twice (2022-23 and 2023-24) and to the All-ACC Defensive Team three times (2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24).
Beekman will wear #26 with the Orlando Magic.
Castleton (6’11”, 250, 5/25/00) played in a combined 26 games (four starts) last season with Memphis, Toronto and Philadelphia, averaging 4.7 ppg., 4.7 rpg. and 1.1 apg. in 16.6 minpg. He also played in a combined 19 regular season NBA G League outings (18 starts) with Memphis, Osceola and Raptors 905, averaging 18.2 ppg., 10.6 rpg., 3.1 apg., 1.16 blkpg. and 1.16 stlpg. in 30.3 minpg., while shooting .593 (137-231) from the floor.
Undrafted by an NBA franchise, Castleton has appeared in 42 career NBA regular season games (four starts) with the L.A. Lakers, Memphis, Toronto and Philadelphia, averaging 3.5 ppg. and 3.2 rpg. in 11.7 minpg. He has also played in 31 career NBA G League regular season games (30 starts) with South Bay, Memphis, Osceola and Raptors 905, averaging 16.6 ppg., 10.2 rpg., 2.9 apg., 1.32 blkpg. and 1.10 stlpg. in 29.7 minpg., while shooting .575 (200-348) from the floor.
Castleton played in 122 career games (75 starts) during five combined seasons at the University of Michigan (2018-20) and the University of Florida (2020-23), averaging 10.4 ppg., 5.6 rpg., 1.2 apg. and 1.73 blkpg. in 20.9 minpg. He led the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in blocked shots during his grad season (2022-23). Castelton was named to the 2022-23 All-SEC First Team (coaches), the All-SEC Second Team twice (2020-21 and 2021-22) and to the 2022-23 SEC All-Defensive Team.
Castleton will wear #14 with the Orlando Magic.
Minaya (6’5”, 210, 3/26/99) played in 19 games last season with Portland, averaging 0.9 ppg. in 5.3 minpg. He also played and started in nine regular season NBA G League outings with Rip City, averaging 11.7 ppg., 5.8 rpg., 2.9 apg. and 1.67 stlpg. in 31.6 minpg.
Undrafted by an NBA franchise, Minaya has appeared in 57 career NBA regular season games (one start), all with Portland, averaging 1.7 ppg. and 1.4 rpg. in 10.0 minpg. He has also played in 46 career NBA G League regular season games (43 starts) with Mexico City and Rip City, averaging 12.9 ppg., 4.8 rpg., 2.4 apg. and 1.70 stlpg. in 33.1 minpg.
Minaya played in 111 career games (100 starts) during five combined seasons at the University of South Carolina (2017-21) and Providence University (2021-22), averaging 7.3 ppg., 5.4 rpg. and 1.7 apg. in 29.8 minpg.
Minaya will wear #15 with the Orlando Magic.
Quiñones (6’5”, 208, 11/16/00) played in a combined 13 games last season with both Philadelphia and New Orleans, averaging 6.6 ppg., 1.8 apg. and 1.5 rpg. in 14.1 minpg. He also played and started in 31 regular season NBA G League outings with Birmingham, averaging 21.3 ppg., 7.0 rpg., 4.6 apg. and 1.58 stlpg. in 35.5 minpg.
Undrafted by an NBA franchise, Quiñones has appeared in 54 career NBA regular season games with Golden State, Philadelphia and New Orleans, averaging 4.8 ppg., 1.7 rpg. and 1.1 apg. in 11.0 minpg. He has also played in 33 career NBA G League regular season games (32 starts) with Santa Cruz and Birmingham, averaging 21.2 ppg., 6.6 rpg. and 4.5 apg. in 30.8 minpg. Quiñones was named the NBA G League’s Most Improved Player and to the NBA G League All-Rookie Team in 2022-23.
Quiñones played in 87 career games (81 starts) during three seasons at the University of Memphis (2019-22), averaging 10.1 ppg., 4.3 rpg. and 1.8 apg. in 27.6 minpg. He was named to the 2019-20 American Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team.
Quiñones will wear #24 with the Orlando Magic.
